SURYANAMASKAR

1. What is different about your suryanamaskar ?
The suryanamaskar as described in "The Complete Suryanamaskar" is essentially different in following ways:
a) All joint movements are maximised to your limits
b) Every muscle in body is stretched to it's limits
c) Movement happens while stretching the muscles which provides dynamic stretch during the suryanamaskar
d) Breathing is controlled
e) Movements are timed & so are the holding positions
f) Each suryanamaskar can take anything from a minimum of 46 seconds to a maximum of over 4 minutes
g) To perform at these higher levels demands intense mental focus & concentration.
h) Hence we consider this a complete exercise system - where physical, mental, cardio-vascular forces are in play.

2. Can everyone perform suryanamaskar ?
We have found no issues with people who do not suffer any condition. For those who have any ailment , it's best to ensure your doctor is aware of the demands of this exercise & guides the person accordingly. We recommend that children below 12 years perform up to Grade 4 , Level 4, only . Anything higher , we would recommend a Guru to guide the person through the system of gradation & upgrades.

3. Are there any side effects of suryanamaskar practice ?
If any of the higher grades involving complex features are practiced without slow progression ; or breath control is practiced when one's body is not yet ready to accept the challenges of such complex demands on their body - there could be subtle negative effects which can only be observed & identified by the Guru. Hence higher grades are advised to be supervised & learnt under a Guru at all times.
